Apps that work offline
Cloud backups, online work applications, internet-enabled software… Our office work today tends to be internet-dependent. If the period of offline work is planned, then the ideal is to anticipate and prepare your work tools in advance. It will make the difference between a stressful day at work and a productive day under control.
Test first by disconnecting from the Internet to see which apps continue to work, which offer limited service, and which don’t work at all. For example, a webmail (gmail, etc.) or your company’s intranet will not work without the Internet. However, collaborative tools like Slack, Google Drive or Monday will allow you to work offline, even if they do not offer all of their features.

Disconnected work and the right to disconnect
Being able to disconnect, even during working hours, is important for your mental health. Indeed, studies have shown that l’hyperconnexion impacts both collective efficiency and the health and well-being of employees.
Logging off during your working hours can be a way to be fully focused and unfazed while working on your computer. This is in particular the subject of the research of Cal Newport, an American professor who theorized “Deep Work”, that is to say “work in depth”. He recommends blocking offline work times (no wifi, no smartphone notifications) to improve your productivity, concentration and creativity.
